What is erectile dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction is a condition where you have trouble achieving or maintaining an erection. You could also have difficulty ejaculating during intercourse or have a low libido. While erectile dysfunction is more common in older men, it can affect men of all ages.
It’s completely normal to have erection trouble occasionally. However, if you frequently aren’t able to get an erection or keep it and it’s interfering with your relationship and sex life, you should talk to Dr. Allingham about your options.
What causes erectile dysfunction?
In most cases, erectile dysfunction is caused by reduced circulation to the penis and genital region. When blood doesn’t flow to your penis efficiently, your erection suffers. Health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, Peyronie’s disease, and benign prostatic hyperplasia all contribute to reduced circulation and erectile dysfunction.
Psychological issues like depression, insomnia, and stress can also contribute to erectile dysfunction.
Your risk of erectile dysfunction increases if you’re overweight, smoke, consume too much alcohol, or take certain medications such as antidepressants or medications for high blood pressure.
Dr. Allingham provides comprehensive consultations and physical exams to determine the cause of your erectile dysfunction.
What is GAINSWave?
GAINSWave is an innovative, noninvasive treatment for erectile dysfunction that uses high-frequency, low-intensity soundwaves to stimulate new capillary development and improve blood flow to your penis. The soundwaves trigger the release of growth factors and activate dormant stem cells to generate new blood vessel and cell growth.
GAINSWave treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Allingham gives you a numbing cream to apply 30 minutes before your appointment to ensure your comfort during GAINSWave therapy. Most patients need a series of treatments to achieve optimal results.
Is GAINSWave effective?
Measured improvements have been reported for patients with ED after using LI-ESWT, in both International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), and Erection Hardness Score (EHS).
These claims are supported by a meta-analysis review of 9 different studies involving 637 patients. All of the randomized controlled trials were published from January 2005 through 2017.
